Denton is located on the northern edge of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, approximately 35 miles northwest of Dallas and 35 miles northeast of Fort Worth. Denton hosts a number of festivals and special events each year, including the North Texas State Fair & Rodeo, a 9-day rodeo extravaganza held each August at the North Texas Fairgrounds, and the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival, held the last weekend of each April in Quakertown Park.
